Where AI and ML roles are hiring right now

392 open AI and machine learning roles at 57 tech companies. Who's hiring, in which cities, how many are remote, how senior they are, and the pay employers post.

Of the 5,024 open tech roles Tideline follows today, 392 are AI and machine learning roles, at 57 companies. That’s about one open tech role in thirteen.

“AI and ML” here means the people who build and run the models: machine learning engineers and scientists, research scientists and research engineers, engineers working on large language models, computer vision and speech, and the teams behind AI platforms and model inference. A role that only mentions AI in passing isn’t counted.

Who’s hiring

Eleven companies hold more than half of these roles (Lyft and Samsara tie for tenth):

The other 46 companies have 170 roles between them, so it isn’t only the biggest names that are hiring.

Where the roles are

A role can list more than one place, so these counts overlap.

  • By city: San Francisco (83), London (73), New York (51), Toronto (22), Seattle (20), Sunnyvale (18), Palo Alto (17), Paris (16), Berlin (15) and Munich (10).
  • By country: the United States (223), the United Kingdom (78), Canada (42), Germany (17) and France (16) lead.

London is the clear second hub after the San Francisco Bay Area. In continental Europe, Paris, Berlin and Munich each have a handful of roles.

Remote, hybrid or on-site

  • Remote: 135 roles (34%). That’s more than across tech roles as a whole, where 28% are remote.
  • Hybrid: 127 roles (32%).
  • On-site: 10 roles.
  • The rest don’t say.

If you can’t relocate, a third of these roles are open to remote work. When a posting says which countries it hires from, Tideline shows that beside the role.

How senior the roles are

This is the hard part for anyone starting out:

  • Lead or staff level: 119 roles
  • Senior: 99
  • Managers: 43
  • Directors: 6
  • Mid-level: 10
  • Entry level: 3, plus 20 internships
  • Not stated: 92

Most AI and ML hiring today is for people with several years behind them. If you’re early in your career, the internships and the 92 roles that don’t state a level are where to look first. Software roles, which share many of the same skills, have five times as many openings.

The pay employers post

Employers post a pay range on 223 of the 392 roles (57%). Across all tech roles it’s 47%, so AI and ML postings are more open about pay than most.

Where the range is a yearly US figure (184 roles), ranges run from $80,000 to about $550,000, and half of them start at $207,000 a year or more. These are the ranges employers posted, not estimates. They show what these companies say they’ll pay for these roles, not what any one person should expect.

How these numbers were made: Tideline reads open roles straight from the careers pages of the 99 tech companies it follows; 91 of them have open tech roles today. These figures are from 31 October 2026. They describe those companies, not the whole job market.
