AI Jobs: Which Companies Are Hiring for AI Roles Right Now
1,185 AI roles open at 211 tech companies on 3 November 2026: AI and ML engineers, research and AI security, who's hiring, remote options and posted pay.
On 3 November 2026, 1,185 technical AI roles were open at 211 tech companies that Tideline follows: one in ten of their 11,691 open tech roles. Machine learning engineers and AI engineers are the biggest named groups, and OpenAI and Anthropic alone have 177 of the roles between them. This is about jobs in the AI field, building and running AI at tech companies, not the short-term AI-training gigs that pay people to rate or write answers for models.
Every number here comes from the companies’ own job boards on that date. Tideline’s AI and machine learning jobs page shows its AI and ML field live, so use this article to understand the shape of AI hiring and that page to see what is open today.
How many AI jobs are open right now
| Role type | Open roles | Companies | Remote |
|---|---|---|---|
| Software and other technical AI roles | 384 | 121 | 86 |
| Machine learning engineers | 250 | 66 | 84 |
| AI engineers and applied AI | 227 | 68 | 39 |
| ML and AI infrastructure, MLOps | 141 | 61 | 26 |
| Research and applied scientists | 100 | 47 | 14 |
| Forward deployed engineers | 46 | 14 | 12 |
| AI security | 37 | 22 | 11 |
A role counts here when its title names AI: AI, artificial intelligence, machine learning, ML, MLOps, LLM, deep learning, generative AI, NLP or computer vision. Each role sits in one type, the first its title fits, in the order AI security, forward deployed, infrastructure, machine learning engineer, AI engineer, research. “Software and other technical AI roles” is everything else with an AI title in a technical field: software engineers on AI products, data scientists, engineering managers and the like.
The same companies also posted 474 AI-titled roles outside engineering: AI product managers, AI sales and solutions roles, AI marketing and operations. They are not in the numbers above.
Companies hiring for AI roles
Twenty-five companies hold 659 of the 1,185 roles. Each row links to the company’s own job board or careers page, where the role is posted and where you apply. “Remote” says whether the company has any remote AI roles open, and how many.
Tideline is independent and is not affiliated with any company or job platform mentioned here. Company names are used only to identify where roles are open.

AI engineer and machine learning engineer jobs
The two titles overlap, and companies use them loosely, but the postings point to a real difference.
- Machine learning engineers build, train and run models, usually for one product: recommendations, search ranking, ads, fraud and risk, routing, or driving. There are 250 open roles at 66 companies: Faculty has 25, Pinterest 21, Wayve 20, Reddit 18 and Airbnb 13. A third of them (84) are remote.
- AI engineers more often build with models that already exist, especially large language models: connecting them to a company’s data and tools, testing their answers, and making them dependable in a product. There are 227 open roles at 68 companies, and two companies dominate: OpenAI (68) and Anthropic (44), where almost all the titles are “applied AI” roles (111 of 112) that help customers build with the company’s own models.
Two neighbouring groups are worth knowing about. ML and AI infrastructure (141 roles at 61 companies, led by Cerebras, Nebius and OpenAI) covers the people who make training and inference fast and cheap: inference engines, GPU and accelerator software, ML platforms and MLOps. Research and applied scientists (100 roles at 47 companies, led by Mistral AI, Helsing and Kitware) work on new methods and models, and those titles usually ask for research experience.
AI security engineer jobs
37 technical roles at 22 companies name both AI and security: securing AI systems, red-teaming models, and using AI for security work. OpenAI has 5, Anthropic 4, Mistral AI 3, and Affirm, Cerebras and Cloudflare 2 each. Titles include AI security engineer, AI red team engineer, AI threat researcher and AI security architect. Eleven of the 37 are remote.
It is a small group, but a distinct one: all 37 are in Tideline’s cybersecurity field rather than its AI and ML field, because their titles lead with security. The wider security job market is covered in Cybersecurity Jobs: Which Companies Are Hiring Right Now.
Forward deployed engineers
Forward deployed engineers work directly with a company’s customers to put its product into real use. 46 of these roles have an AI title, at 14 companies led by Mistral AI (10), Databricks (9) and Truelogic (8). Counting every forward deployed title, AI or not, there were 293 open roles at 51 companies on 3 November 2026. What the job involves, and who is hiring for it, is in Forward Deployed Engineer Jobs: The Role and Who’s Hiring.
Remote AI jobs
272 of the 1,185 AI roles are remote (23%), a little below the 27% of all tech roles at the same companies. 372 are hybrid, 85 on-site, and 456 (38%) don’t say, so check each posting.
Where the remote ones can be based:
| Where remote hires can be based | Remote AI roles |
|---|---|
| United States only | 98 |
| Not stated | 96 |
| Canada only | 23 |
| Europe (a country or region in it) | 19 |
| UK (or UK and Ireland) | 10 |
| United States and Canada | 6 |
| Anywhere in the world | 5 |
| Latin America | 5 |
| Other single countries, mixes or regions | 10 |
So remote AI work mostly means remote in the United States. Reddit posts all 30 of its AI roles as remote, and Samsara (18), Pinterest (17), Affirm (14), Truelogic (13) and Coinbase (12) have the most after it. The AI labs mostly want people in their offices: OpenAI and Anthropic have 4 remote AI roles each. Remote AI and machine learning roles, live.
What AI engineer jobs pay: employer-posted ranges
560 of the 1,185 roles show a pay range set by the employer: 492 in US dollars, 41 in Canadian dollars, 10 in pounds, 5 in euros and 12 in other currencies. Almost all the US dollar ranges are for roles in the United States.
| Role type | Yearly US dollar ranges | Middle of the low ends | Middle of the high ends |
|---|---|---|---|
| All technical AI roles | 485 | $200,000 | $285,982 |
| Machine learning engineers | 107 | $212,000 | $310,000 |
| AI engineers and applied AI | 95 | $217,000 | $282,000 |
| ML and AI infrastructure, MLOps | 68 | $199,000 | $311,500 |
| Research and applied scientists | 39 | $214,000 | $287,500 |
| AI security | 19 | $195,000 | $270,000 |
| Forward deployed engineers | 10 | $183,500 | $261,150 |
| Software and other technical AI roles | 147 | $180,000 | $265,000 |
In other currencies: 40 yearly Canadian dollar ranges have middle values of C$170,620 and C$220,000, and 10 pound ranges £207,500 and £242,500. Fewer than 10 euro ranges were posted, too few for a middle value.
These are the ranges employers wrote on their own postings, and many US postings give a different range for each region. They show what these companies say they will pay for these roles, not what an AI engineer earns in general.
Where AI jobs are: countries and cities
| City | AI roles |
|---|---|
| San Francisco | 220 |
| New York | 136 |
| London | 130 |
| Paris | 54 |
| Toronto | 46 |
| Seattle | 37 |
| Sunnyvale | 34 |
| Bengaluru | 32 |
| Munich | 31 |
| Berlin | 30 |
A role can list several places, so these counts overlap. Half the AI roles (589) list the United States, and San Francisco alone 220. London is the clear second city, with Paris, Munich and Berlin the main European hubs after it. For London in detail, see Tech Companies Hiring in London Right Now.

How this data was collected
Tideline reads the public job boards of the 433 tech companies it follows, hosted on Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby, every day. It does not read job sites or aggregators, and it does not cover every employer. On 3 November 2026, 429 of those companies had open roles, 26,269 in all, of which 11,691 were in the ten tech fields Tideline tracks.
This article counts roles by their title, not by Tideline’s own AI and ML field, so that AI roles in software, data, security and infrastructure teams are included. The two overlap but differ: Tideline’s AI and ML field had 1,063 roles at 182 companies that day, and its live page counts those, including 220 roles whose titles don’t name AI, such as research scientist and inference engineer roles.
Data notes:
- The headline counts technical roles only: those in Tideline’s AI and ML, software, data, cloud and DevOps, cybersecurity, QA and IT support fields. The 474 AI-titled roles in product, design, sales, programme management and other functions are left out.
- 28 AI-training and contractor posts are left out: 22 temporary “AI Tutor” roles at xAI, 5 independent-contractor mentor roles at Udacity and 1 “AI Trainer” at Okta. A few titles that only look like AI were also left out: “ML” meaning maternity-leave cover, and product names ending in “.ai”.
- 457 of the 1,185 roles do not state a level. Of the rest, 266 are lead or staff, 258 senior, 114 manager, 32 internships, 23 director, 22 mid-level, 7 executive and 6 entry level.
- Doctolib’s job board moved on 3 November 2026; its 14 AI roles are counted as Tideline last saw them, and the table links its new careers site.
- Pay figures are the middle values of the posted ranges’ low ends and high ends, not averages, and only where at least 10 postings in one currency show a range.
- The figures describe the companies Tideline follows on 3 November 2026, not the whole AI job market.
Common questions
- Which companies are hiring for AI jobs?
- On 3 November 2026 the companies with the most open technical AI roles, among the 433 Tideline follows, were OpenAI (113), Anthropic (64), Databricks (41), Wayve (34), Mistral AI (33) and Snowflake (33). The table in this article lists 25, each linked to its own job board or careers page.
- Are AI jobs remote?
- Some are. 272 of the 1,185 technical AI roles were marked remote on 3 November 2026 (23%), 372 hybrid and 85 on-site; 456 don't say. Of the remote ones, 98 hire in the United States only and only 5 from anywhere in the world. Reddit, Samsara, Pinterest and Affirm have the most remote AI roles.
- What does an AI engineer do?
- An AI engineer builds products and features on top of AI models, usually large language models made by someone else: connecting them to a company's data and tools, testing how well they answer, and making them reliable in use. At AI companies the title often comes with "applied AI", meaning the engineer helps customers build with the company's models.
- What is the difference between an AI engineer and a machine learning engineer?
- A machine learning engineer usually builds, trains and runs the models themselves, often for a product like recommendations, search, fraud detection or self-driving. An AI engineer more often builds with existing models than trains new ones. On 3 November 2026 there were 250 machine learning engineer roles and 227 AI engineer and applied AI roles open at the companies Tideline follows.
- What do AI engineer jobs pay?
- Only the ranges employers post: for the 95 AI engineer and applied AI roles with a yearly US dollar range, half start at $217,000 or more and half reach $282,000 or more. For the 107 machine learning engineer roles with one, the middle values are $212,000 and $310,000. Almost all of these are roles in the United States.
- Are AI-training gigs the same as AI jobs?
- No. AI-training gigs pay people to write, rate or correct answers for AI models, often as short-term contract work. This article counts jobs in the AI field at tech companies: engineering, research and infrastructure roles. 28 AI-training and contractor posts in Tideline's data, 22 of them temporary AI tutor roles at xAI, are left out.
